Emma's newest adventure

Emma's newest adventure is her interest in sewing. We purchased a small, chain stitch Discovery Kids machine for her birthday in December, but it just wasn't cutting it. Yesterday, we decided to dive in and purchase her very own Janome machine--here it is! Hello Kitty Janome. It comes complete with 10 stitches (A-J), 3 bobbins, her very own seam ripper and manual.  She's ecstatic!
She couldn't wait to take it out of the box to show daddy when we returned last night. She showed him all of the stitches, how to put the thread on, where to find the bobbin and how to only rotate the dial toward you instead of away from you. Why? Because that's what papa said! :)

Today, while she was (still is napping), I adjusted a table, brought in her old-fashioned school chair from the mud room art area and set up her table with many of the supplies she has been accruing over the past few year--she's up to 19 fat quarters (she chose 5 when we purchased her machine yesterday).  She also has a basket full of 'Emma's fabric" scraps from projects that I'm doing that she loves to cut apart, pin together and sew (to make things for her babies).  Here's what I put together for her this afternoon--as much as I want her to stay sleeping, I can't wait for her to open her eyes to see it!
Her Grandma Cheryl HAS GOT to be beaming down at us from Heaven right now in sheer joy! It was only a short year ago that Emma sat down with her at the quilt shop and made Emma's very first sewing project--a mis-matched flannel noodle pillow case!

Emma was so proud of herself that day, and it continues to be her favorite pillow case.  We miss Grandma so much every day, but hope that we can spring a talent in Emma--sewing, something her Nana loved and excelled at during her short 50 years on this Earth.

Happy Sewing!

Emma & Sonja's birthday party!

Emma and Sonja began their party by decorating their very own Birthday cake with fairy picks and sprinkles!
Auntie Lisa and Uncle Marcel invited us over for soup and cake! It was yummy!

 Adrina did the usual--rested!
The girls received many great gifts and are so happy to be four!

Thanksgiving 2012

We hosted (Ryan cooked :)) Thanksgiving at our home! Adrina wore Sonja's "I'm Stuffed!" shirt. Emma and Sonja sat at their own table for dinner and Adrina spent the majority of the day resting!  It was a wonderful day shared with family!

Adrina has some dark hair!

We've been enjoying making comparisons between Emma's hair when we she was born and Adrina's hair.  Emma's hair was just as dark, but no where near as thick!  Adrina is still holding onto almost her whole head of hair!  There's so much there that we have been able to have clips in it almost every day!
She loves to snuggle on her tummy and prefers to nap on her side!  She's been such a sweetie. We have been enjoying our first month with her and are very excited to our Christmas adventures!  We are especially thankful this holiday season for a happy, healthy family, but still miss Nana Cheryl EVERY day. We believe that Adrina's dark, full head of dark hair is God's way of connecting her with her Nana that she wasn't lucky enough to meet.

Sonja's visit from Seattle

Emma's cousin, Sonja came to visit shortly after Adrina was born.  The girls enjoyed playing together! It was also fun for grandma and grandpa Sluke to see their 3 granddaughters together!
